High THC vs CBD Rich
The first and most important decision you need to make is whether you will be growing a High THC plant or a CBD Rich plant. The difference is one will have buds that are high in THC and lower in CBD, while the others will have buds that are really concentrated with CBD and low with THC. When it comes to Medicinal Use, some people find THC helps them best while others find CBD is better. So this decision is purely up to your preference, and you can always grow a couple plants of each variety!
AutoFlower vs Regular
Next you'll need to choose between Autoflower or Regular, as you can't grow both in the same tent for an entire grow. You can visit our Intro to Growing section for a more in-depth explanation, but Autoflowers require 18+ hours of light per day for their entire grow and are ready for harvest much faster than regular seeds. However, they yield less per plant. Regular seeds take longer to grow and require 12/12 lighting for Flower, however you can yield pounds per plant if you so desire! Both Autos and Regular seeds can come in a form called "Feminized" which means they are guaranteed to be female.
Which Strain should I grow?
This is again another personal preference, but always consider the kind of plant it is. Indica provides a more relaxing body high, while Sativa provides an energetic head high! Hybrids provide a mix of the two.
It is also always a good idea to read all of the statistics and info provided about the seed on its product page. It will explain if it's a low or high yielder, better for indoor or better for outdoor growing, and what climates it thrives in best. If growing outdoors it is important to get a seed that can grow in your local climate or else you will have trouble. Finally, you'll need to consider price. Seeds can start off as cheap as $3 per seed and can go up to $20+. The more pricey, the better the genetics, which leads to a much better end result if grown properly!
