The Final Flushing of the Blue Dream Plants
What's up cannabis growers and welcome back to GreenBox Grown. As always, my name is Dylan and today I'm going to be showing you guys my final video for the Blue Dream Screen of Green grow series that I have been doing over the last couple months. And in this video I'm going to cover the two-week flushing that I give the plants before harvest. So once You're finished with this video and performing everything on your plants and finish flushing them, you'll be ready to move on to the harvesting and curing process and you can go to greenboxgrown.Com under the videos tab, you'll see the harvest and curing videos, so you can see exactly how that's done there. I'm also going to be giving you guys some updates and close-ups on how the buds have grown since you saw them in the last video. Now let's get started with day one of the week where I'll show you some close-ups, as well as give you guys some updates on how the buds have grown since the last video I showed you them in.
All right. Here we are from day one of the week. And you can see the buds are getting even bigger and they're filling out all around the top area, as well as down towards the SCROG. And you can see most of the buds are connected all the way down at that point, so that they're just one big main Cola. As you can see, as I get closer can see how frosty and dense with Trichomes these buds are getting which is, of course, exactly what we want. And the smell is just getting stronger by the day. Again, you can't smell that obviously from the video but inside the tent it is very noticeable and even about like ten yards away from the greenhouse, since I don't have the filter going, you can smell it.
Now that the plants are ready for watering I'm going to start the flush by giving them the Sledgehammer Mix by Fox Farms. And all you have to do is mix two teaspoons per gallon of water and I also add the Coco Wet for this mix and pH*. And what this does is help flush out all the nutrients and everything left behind in the soil and the plants from over the course of the grow. So the Sledgehammer really just helps start the flush and get everything going, and after that you're just going to use plain pH'd water. And since the plants are so large at this point, I am giving just over a gallon of water or mix per plant.
So each plant is getting over a gallon, just over a gallon of watering so you're really soaking, getting a good amount of runoff out of the bottom. I like to get about 15 to 20 percent during flushing. So try to aim for that. Another day later and I want to show you guys how the buds have progressed over the course of this week thus far. You can see leaves are starting to yellow, that is just because of the flushing, you're getting all of the nutrients out of the plant and the plant starts to feed off the nitrogen that's left in the fan leaves just for a little added boost in bud growth. And so that causes the leaves to yellow which is totally normal and okay. And again, I'm just going to keep pulling this dying or dead foliage from underneath the SCROG.
Now the plants are ready for another watering and since we are doing the flush, from here on out they are only going to be getting plain pH'd water whenever I do water them. You're still going to want to give them a good soaking, so there is 20 -- 15 to 20 percent runoff but, again, no nutrients, no additives, nothing but plain pH'd water to really flush these guys out.
You can see how big the buds have gotten from this angle, they've really filled out and have gotten dense which is nice. And, as you can see, I'm doing each plant over -- it's about a gallon and a -- not a quarter, maybe a little less than that. But it's a pretty good amount. These guys are in seven-gallon Smart Pots so they can hold a lot of water. And it takes about a gallon just to get some runoff going. So be sure to get that 20 percent runoff, especially as you get towards the end of the flush.
Here we are for the last day of the grow and this is about a week later from the last shot. We're at the very end of the flush and this is the last watering I'm going to be giving them. And after this watering I'm going to let them dry out for about a day and then leave them in dark for 24 hours and then they are ready for harvest. And once you do start to water the plants be sure to cover all of the top soil evenly.
You don't want to just flood one part or one side of the pot and leave the other dry. Be sure to evenly water so that all the roots get a good drinking. And you want to water a little bit at a time so it can soak in. You don't want to be moving the dirt around disrupting the roots. That's really important. And here's a good shot right now of some of the runoff dripping out of the bottom, you can see there. It's just the beginning. There will be a lot more once I give it all the water. And then, of course, here's the final shot of the buds before harvest.
All right, guys, so that concludes the final flushing video, as well as the Screen of Green grow series. I will be back soon with a new grow series, and I'm thinking about doing an Auto Flower with some LST series but if you guys have suggestions for a type of grow that you'd like to see done, feel free to leave that in the comment section below.
And, as always, if you guys did enjoy the video please give us a thumbs up and comment below with your feedback. And don't forget to subscribe to the GreenBox Grown channel and to turn on the notifications for updates on my later grows. As always, thank you for watching and until next time…
