Week 14 Overall | Buds are really starting to fill out!
What’s up cannabis growers and welcome back to the Screen of Green Grow series by GreenBox Grown! This is now the beginning of week 14, which is also week 6 of flower and the buds on my Blue Dream plants are really starting to take off in both size and smell! In this video I will be covering the nutrient and watering schedule for the week, and will show you how much the buds have developed. At the end, will will also take a look at the trichomes on these ladies, just so you can see what they look like at this stage of growth. If you want to jump ahead in this series to see how these blue dream buds turned out, just visit greenboxgrown.com and visit the SCROG series under the Videos Tab. Alright now lets get started with the first day of the week where I will show you guys the most recent development on these buds.
Just from this distance you can see the buds are starting to overtake the branches are are filling in around all of the leaves. You can also see as I get close, the white hairs are no longer sticking perfectly straight up, but instead are now starting to curl downwards to help shape the bud. Every day these buds are getting a little frostier, and I would like to point out that on a foggy day like this I always turn the grow lights in the tent on. Especially during flower. Right now, while these plants are budding, the most important ingredient they need for growth is light! So the more you provide the better and the bigger your buds will be. Under the SCROG there are some buds developing just underneath, but I will leave those alone as they are clearly getting enough light to develop fully.
This is the next day, and these plants are thirsty and ready for a watering, so I will be feeding them the week 10 mix on the fox farm nutrient schedule. After I’ve added my coco wet and Cal Mag, I stir everything up and then pH accordingly.
At this point I am watering each plant with just under three quarters of a gallon as that is what it is taking to properly soak the soil and get about 20% runoff.
Another day later, and You can see the buds have fattened up even more! When looking at them from the side angle, you can see they are starting to form all the way down the branch and are getting close to connecting.
Now time for these plants next watering which will be a plain pH’d mix. And again be sure to give them a good amount of water so the soil is completely soaked and theres a good amount of runoff coming out the bottom of the pot. Because I am feeding them so much, I like to give it to the plants in increments. So I’ll feed each plant a quarter gallon at a time and then start again with the first one until each plant has gotten their full amount. This lets the nutrients really soak into the soil and allows the roots to soak them up as much as possible.
This is the last day of the week and I am going to be giving you guys a close up on the trichomes on these plants, but first lets look at how the buds have developed so far this week. Now it seems growth is no longer focused on growing those white pistils but instead the plants are focusing on growing the bud itself. This is causing them to really fatten up and take shape as they engulf the surrounding leaves.
Now lets take a look at the trichomes with my 420 scope. Now these buds are nowhere near being ready for harvest, but I figured it would be a good idea to show you the different stages of development for the trichomes os you know what to look out for. So on hear you can see we have trichomes of all levels of maturity. We have clear ones, amber and milky. I am of course looking at a sugar leaf and not the bud itself which is why I am seeing amber so early in the flower stage. That is why it is not recommended to use sugar leaves as a sign of when to harvest. Now I didn’t get a good shot of the trichomes on the buds, but at this point they are all still mostly clear with a few starting to turn milky.
Alright growers that concludes week 14 of the Screen of Green Grow, and now you know exactly what your buds and trichomes should be looking like during this stage. Next week will include even more updates on bud growth, as they will really be fattening up at that point. Also, these trichomes are going to be turning even more cloudy meaning we are that much closer to harvest! If you enjoyed the video please give it a thumbs up and comment below with your feedback.
